More Reminiscing

Went to lunch with one of my brothers and my sister-in-law today.   We were working on dad’s memorial and reminiscing.  Talking about our childhood.   We talked about how strict our father, a former US Marine, was.  We talked about how my dad taught my brother Karate.  He wouldn’t teach me, said I was too hot tempered.  I think my favorite story that we told my sister-in-law was when I was about 9 years old.  My older brother was about 12.  The younger one was 8.  He is my Irish twin, we were born in the same year.  I was born in January, he was born in December.  Anyway, when he was about 8, he noticed that my parents had not recorded his baptism in the family bible.  Being the brats we were, the older brother and myself convinced him that he was adopted.  We would not let up.  He went crying to our mom.  She asked if he was nuts.  Why would she adopt a child after just having one?  Of course, he believed us, not her!  To this day, we don’t let him forget it!

Sounds like a great lunch with your brother! Nobody can ever take away memories. Sometimes I think we, as parents, try too hard to create memories when they are actually happening right under our noses. 🙂 Glad you had a good day!

My older brothers always said my parents found me in a dumpster…lol.
I am glad that through some darkness, you are able to see some light. I love thinking of special memories with my older brothers now.

Nothing like family memories. Sounds like you and your siblings had a fun childhood growing up together! Good to relive those fun stories at a time like this!

It was fun to talk about how mean we were to him! My older brother had told him our parents bought him from the “dog faced gypsies”. He totally believed it! 🙂
